Registration

Bethesda Cooperative Nursery School is open to all, without regard to race, color, religion or national origin. This policy applies to the staff positions, and is in compliance with all conditions under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. 

Registration applications (click here for form) are taken on the second Wednesday of January at the Nursery School’s Open House. (In the event of a weather related closing, the Open House and Registration will be held on the following Wednesday.)  All applications received by noon on that day are given equal consideration. Once a class is filled, children are placed on a waiting list. If a child is not accepted from the waiting list by the first day of school parents may choose to keep their child on the list and will be notified should a space become available during the school year. Priority registration is accepted for current students, siblings of students and members of The Church In Bethesda.

To register for the four-year-old class children must turn four by August 31 of that year. To register for the three-year-old class children must turn three by August 31 of that year. To register for a two-year-old class children must turn two by August 31 of that year. Toilet training is not required for any class. 

The school offers full and partial scholarships to students who qualify for financial aid. Scholarship application forms are available in the school office.
 

Financial Information

A registration fee is due with the enrollment application. This fee is non-refundable, except in the event that BCNS is unable to accept a child by the first day of school. 

Once a child is officially accepted by the Nursery School, one month’s non-refundable tuition, together with a signed co-oping agreement is due by March 15th. This payment covers tuition for September and the last week of school in June. An annual activity fee and an insurance fee are due by the end of the first week of school.  

Payments are due the first school day of each month; after the 15th of the month, an administrative late fee is assessed. Parents are responsible for payment of tuition and fees for their children regardless of absence, vacation or illness. Tuition will be refunded only in the event of prolonged illness of a child, certified by a physician. If the child is withdrawn during the school year and the spot cannot be filled, the parent will be responsible for the remaining tuition.
